Wishing you a Happy New Year!!!

I am afraid that our Christmas didn't go to plan this year.

On Christmas Eve, my husband was whisked into hospital. It seems he had flu, a chest infection and a high potassium level. He was kept in until late afternoon on Boxing Day.

He does seem to be progressing well since he arrived home, so fingers crossed he will continue to get better.

I do hope you all had a wonderful time over Christmas and are now looking forward to the New Year. I wonder what 2018 will have in store for us. Maybe it's best not to ask...

I do hope you all have Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Divorcees.biz

Meanwhile, advance notice for those of you who are looking for a free book to read in January.

Divorcees.Biz will be free to download from 30th Dec until 3rd Jan. Happy reading!

Happy New Year to you all.

Cheers!!

At bit later than I expected, but here I am.

Last Sunday, we went to see my sister and her husband and my niece and her lovely family. We exchanged Christmas presents and of course all our good wishes for the season. It was great seeing them.

Nevertheless, now that I am here, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and, just in case I don't get back before the New Year, Best Wishes for 2018.

Merry Christmas Everyone and thank you for staying with me.

A Big Favour - Please Help!

Hi everyone. Yes, it's me, Eileen Thornton and once again I am seeking a very big favour from you all.

I am sure you all helped me out earlier this year when my novel, Murder on Tyneside was in a competition to be Book of the Month for July. Well, whatever you guys did, it worked, because Murder on Tyneside won the vote.

Now it seems Read Freely are seeking out the best 50 books of 2017 and I do hope that Murder on Tyneside will at least be one of them, if not in the first 10 or so. However, I can't make it happen on my own.

Murder on Tyneside
Therefore, I need each and everyone of your to nominate my novel, Murder on Tyneside to be in the top 50 books for 2017.

As I said, Read Freely are running this competition. Simply click on this link:- READ FREELY which will take you to the site and fill in the nomination form. (It is quick and easy to do - you don't have to jump through any hoops or anything)

I would really appreciate your support.

Meanwhile, I am still working on a sequel to Murder on Tyneside, though I am very near the end. At the moment, I am in the process of trying to bring the whole thing together. Not an easy thing for me to do when I have loose ends flying all over the place. Nevertheless, I am really hoping to have it finished before the end of the year.

I am also trying to work out what to get for Christmas presents. This year I have started early - well earlier than usual. However, I I know that I will still be rushing around the shops or on the internet on December 20th!! How many of you feel the same way??

I think that's all for the moment,

I'll get back to you very soon

Take care and enjoy the day

Cheers!!

Hope You Had a Good Weekend

Good morning - I say good morning, but it could be a different time of the day when you pick this up. Nevertheless it is a good place to start.

It's very windy here this morning. I gather it is going to be like that for the next couple of days. Therefore we will have to batten down the hatches, as they say.

Once again, it has been very quiet here - so no exciting news for you. I can't remember the last time I had anything exciting to pass on. Apart from anything thing else, it is the time of the year when things are quiet until Halloween, and Christmas start gathering speed on the the horizon and hurry towards us.

Here in the UK, we also celebrate Bonfire Night on 5th November with fireworks to mark the time when Guy Fawkes and a group of men decided to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London. As it turned out they failed. However, their efforts have been remembered for over 300 years.

I am still working on my latest novel. As I have probably said before, it is a sequel to Murder on Tyneside. It is going rather slowly at the moment, I'm afraid. I'll really have to get my head around it. I had hoped it would be finished by now, but things don't always go according to plan.

The Trojan Project

In the meantime, The Trojan Project is on special offer until Friday. This means you can download a copy for only 99c or 99p depending on whether you are here in the UK or in the USA.

The story is set in North East England and tells how a woman and her children are forced to flee the area when a massive green light and a swirling mist devastate the hills and the valleys.

A chilling suspense thriller!

Well I think that's all for the moment, but I do hope to be back very soon.

Meanwhile have a great week wherever you are!

Cheers!!

Hello Everyone!

Hello again,

It seems such a long time since I last posted here. But truthfully, I haven't had any news to pass on. Not that I have today, except my niece and her family are coming up to see us this weekend.

Our nephew started school this week and I was a little anxious that he might find it strange in a whole new environment. However, it seems he loved it, so no doubt he will be telling my husband and I all about it during the visit.

I recall the day I first started school. I found it strange to walk away from my mother into a whole new world. I think I actually cried as the teacher led me into a room full of strangers, especially as my younger sister was still with mum.. But that was a long time ago and there has been a lot of water under the bridge since then. Sometimes it flowed gently, but there have been times when it hurled its way downstream so fast, it was difficult to keep my head above the water.

My husband and I will be celebrating out 57th Wedding Anniversary this weekend. It doesn't seem that long since we walked down the aisle after signing the register.

We went to London for our honeymoon and it was really wonderful back then. So much so, we decided to move down there from Tyneside.  But I have to say, I really missed the northeast.

Not sure that London is the same now as it was back in the 'swinging sixties'. But I suppose everyone feels that way about places as the years pass.

I think that is all for the moment, but just before I go, I thought that you might like to know that you can read the opening chapters to all my novels on the All Author Website. Simply follow the link, scroll down and see which one you would like to try first..

Cheers!!

Sunday, 13 August 2017

Hello Again!

I hope you are all well and have enjoyed your summer holidays. Though on second thoughts, some of you may not have been away yet - after all it is still only August. Some people prefer to take their holiday later in the year.

We tend to take ours at the beginning of July. The only down side with that is by the time we reach the middle of August I don't feel as though I have been away at all! Perhaps we should simply pack a bag tomorrow and go off on another jaunt! Actually that sounds like a good idea 😇

Quite honestly, the weather here hasn't been very good at all. We seem to have had showers every day for the last month. But I suppose it could be worse - it could be snowing!

We are in the process of having our garage painted - if it stays dry long enough for the man to do the job. We have a wooden garage, which looks rather nice, but it does require a paint job every so often.

I am sticking to my diet - I did mention I was on a diet so time ago, didn't I? Well anyway I am still working on it. However I am afraid the weight is taking some time to move. I get the impression it likes being around me; it must feel quite comfortable where it is so doesn't want to go away.

I have managed to lose 12.5 lbs, but oh my goodness it really has been a struggle. Fingers are crossed that when I get on the scales this week they will show some weight loss. Last week I remained the same as the week before. How frustrating is that!! Nevertheless, I am still sticking with the diet. I will let you know how I got on after weigh day!

 Murder on Tyneside

By the time you read this blog, my novel Murder on Tyneside will be on special offer. You will be able to download it for only 99c/99p.

Back from my Break! UPDATED!

UPDATE!  There is still time to download a copy of Divorcees.Biz for only 99c/99p. Therefore why not head over to Amazon before the offer ends!

Hi again!

I have been away on holiday, and before you ask, I have not been sunning myself on a far distant exotic shore. If fact we have been no further than, a lovely hotel near Harrogate. We have been going there for several years now, as we find we are able to relax and unwind.

Not that I need much unwinding these days. My life is less hectic than it used to be when I was working. However it is still nice to actually get away from the same all, same all, once in a while and have someone else decide what is going to be on the menu for the day.

Though we did enjoy our stay, There were a couple of changes at the hotel, which we thought were ill advised. However, who am I to say anything, I am sure that other guests are quite happy with the new arrangements.

Anyway, here I am back at my desk in my rather untidy room and trying to get my head back into the novel I started a little while ago.
Divorcees.Biz

Meanwhile, you might be interested to know that Divorcees.Biz is only 99c/99p for the next week. Therefore if you are looking for a fun romance novel to take on holiday, then this will fit the bill nicely.

The story tells of four divorced friends who suddenly take it into their heads to open their own online dating agency. They each hope to find a new man, but will it work out for them or will they be disappointed?

It's light and frothy, the ideal summer read and, as I said before, only 99c/99p

Well, I think that is all for the moment,

As usual, I do hope you are all having a great day and that the sun is shining wherever you are!

Cheers!!

I would like to say a big Thank You, to all of those who followed the link and voted for my novel. Your support is very much appreciated. But don't try to vote again, as I understand the site has been set up to stop anyone voting twice.

However if you didn't find the time to vote earlier, then please do so now. Your vote could be the one that pushes Murder on Tyneside over the line to come first!  Here is the link again: Read Freely

Leave your email address, as they will inform you of the winner at the end of the competition.  So, please, head over there now and add your vote.

Therefore, don't miss out on this delightful love story set in the 1970's. It's an ideal read for the weekend, which is almost upon us as I type..

My new oven, which I mentioned in my last post is working well. Not that I get wrapped up with ovens these days. Those days of cooking for the many parties we used to throw is well and truly over. But at the end of the day, I still need an oven, so praise where it is due. After all, I would be moaning all over the place if it wasn't working.

Well I think that is all for now, but please, whatever else you do today, be sure to vote for Murder on Tyneside at Read Freely

Think of it as your mission for today 😉  Thank you one and all, I shall raise my glass to you all at the end of the day.

All come and go!!

I don't know whether I am on my heels or my elbows at the moment - (is that the correct way of saying I am in a bit of a turmoil?)

It's nothing serious. Certainly nothing to get into a twist about. It seems that I have a few things to write/promote and to sort out at the moment and I simply don't know where to start.

Firstly my built in Neff oven started to play up. By that, I mean it suddenly decided that it had had enough and refused to rise to the correct temperature any more . No matter what I set it at, it wouldn't rise above 150c. Now, I agree that's fine if I needed to cook a stew or something similar on a low temp for a few hours. But it was no good at all if I wanted a higher temperature, which is often the case. Therefore after several attempts at fiddling around with the dial, I finally got the message that I needed to start looking for a new oven.

I have to say that our old oven has served us well for very nearly twenty years. I have no idea how long ovens/cooker last as my husband and I usually moved house every five years. (I am to blame here; it was a hobby of mine) But back in the old days, it was easier than it is now. Houses in the London area sold a lot quicker than they do in the current market.

Anyway, getting back to the oven situation, on Tuesday I made the decision to pop into a local shop to buy a brand new oven. I should add that our hob is separate and was working fine. Therefore, having chosen an oven similar to what I had, (it made sense as it would fit into the slot without any problems) only a more modern version, I am happy to say that it arrived today and is now installed and ready to use. The only problem is, it looks so lovely and clean, I don't feel the urge to use it!!!

The Trojan Project
Next, I had the wonderful news that my novel, Murder on Tyneside, has been shortlisted in a competition on Read Freely. The only problem is, I need votes. That is where you come in. Please follow the link to Read Freely and add your vote.

Also, The Trojan Project is on special offer this week. Only 99c/99p to download. So please if you haven't read this book yet, now is the time to download a copy and enjoy it while on holiday.

I think that is all for today, But if I think of anything else, I will be back --- where have I heard that before??

Cheers

A Visit to Tyneside!

I have just been on a four day visit to Tyneside. We stayed in the Premier Inn (Millennium Bridge), which is really handy for the quayside and also the shops in the city.

I think you will all have guessed by now that I love going to visit the area where I was born.. I was born in Gateshead, Low Fell, to be exact, however we didn't get as far as that on this visit as we spent a great deal of time on the quayside dreaming up my next novel.

Of course Agnes Lockwood will be one of the main characters again. She seems to have been a hit with the readers of my last novel, Murder on Tyneside - well most of them anyway. I think some thought she was too pushy, but it is fiction, after all. The lady is merely a figment of my imagination and what would have been the point of the story if she had taken a back seat?

Anyway, like I said Agnes will have a starring role once again - as will DCI Alan Johnson.

One thing on the quayside, which I hadn't seen before, was a beach!

Yes there was an area made up of sand with beach huts and deckchairs thrown in for good measure. There is also a small cafe close by where I am sure people can buy tea coffee and ice cream to eat and drink on the beach. There were several people taking advantage of the sunshine as we walked past.

The whole thing is set almost in front of the Law Courts.

The Pitcher and Piano was in full swing and my husband and I enjoyed a glass of wine sitting outside on two of the days we were there.

We also went to the Hancock Museum. Neither of us had been there for many years, so it was interesting to wander around looking at the various changes which had been made over the years.
There is an exhibition of of some interesting artifacts from Hadrian's Wall at the moment, which is why we decided to go there in the first place.

Naturally, I enjoyed a wander through some of the shops in the city centre, where I couldn't resist the urge to by some new shoes and a handbag!  I also managed to see my cousin, who I don't see very often. She was one of my bridesmaids all those years ago... won't say how many 😉

All in all, it was a wonderful trip and I am just sorry it is over, but hopefully we will do it all over again very soon.

I think that is all for the moment. Except to say check out my Website when you have a moment to spare

I hope you all have a wonderful day

Cheers!!

Anyone up for a FREEBIE?

Divorcees.Biz

The first thing on the agenda today is the news that Divorcees.Biz, a novel of fun and romance is Free from today until Sunday 7th May.

If you haven't already read this novel, then now is the time to follow the link and download a copy. The four ladies, will certainly put a spring in your step.

Follow Connie, Sadie, Jenny and Lucy as as they set up their own online dating agency.

I wonder which one of the four women you will like the most? I would be most interested to know. 😀

It seems that spring has sprung here in the Scottish Borders. The sun is shining, the blossom is blooming around the local gardens and parks and.... wait for it.... I have started a new diet!

Already I can see you cringing at the very thought of it.  How many times have she said that? you are saying to yourselves, as you roll your eyes. Well this time I am going to give it real go.So watch this space and I will let you know how I get on.

This morning we set up our garden swing for the summer months. I love sitting out there listening to the birds chirping to each other. Therefore, I can only hope that the sunshine is here to stay.

On Sunday, our niece, her husband, and our Great Nephew came to visit. It was lovely seeing them again. I can't believe how much young Christopher has grown over the last few months. He is growing so fast, I can't keep up with him. Hopefully we will see them all again before too long.

We are going to spend a few days in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. That is the plan and I am really looking forward to it. I only hope the weather is good and we can get out on the quayside and enjoy a glass or two of wine outside our favourite cafe right next to the Millennium Bridge.  I also want to go up to the shopping centre and see what is new. It is over a year since my friend and I were there and I have really missed our trips to the Eldon Square... most especially the wine bar in M&S. We used to end up there before taking the bus back up to the Borders.

Well, I think that is all I have to tell you at the moment. However, if I find I have forgotten something, then I will come back and update the post.

Cheers!!

Hello Again!!

It seems to have been a while since my last post. I recall saying that I wouldn't leave it so long, but you know the old saying - The Best Laid Plans of Mice and Men...

Anyway, here I am now with a few things to pass on to you all.

The first chapters of some of my novels are still up for grabs as I announced the last time I posted. But if you missed the post here are the links again. The first chapters are FREE!

Divorcees.Biz       Only Twelve Days        Murder on Tyneside

You might also be interested to know that Divorcees.Biz is now available in Italian and Only Twelve Days has been translated into Italian and Portuguese.

Murder on Tyneside
You might recall that Murder on Tyneside is my latest novel and tells of a lady, Agnes Lockwood, who involves herself in a police investigation, whether the police want her help or not. It's a light-hearted cosy murder mystery; a little escapism for those who want to switch of from normal police procedure novels. After all, it is fiction.  ðŸ˜‰

Easter is almost upon us. I can't believe how this year is flying by. Perhaps it's an age thing, but when I was young, I don't remember the seasons passing by so quickly. The days seemed longer, the sun shone brighter and longer and it hardly ever rained.  Yes, I guess it must be an age thing. Either that or technology is making it seem that way.

After all TV programmes weren't shown all day and all night. There weren't any gadgets such a play-station etc. We all had to make our own enjoyment, such as playing cowboy and indian games in the garden. Oh, heck, I'm showing my age now, aren't I?  Best move on!

I did an interview recently with Fiona Mcvie - If you are interested in reading it follow the link to Fiona's website: Authorsinterviews  Fiona asked me quite a number of questions and I answered them all. There is also an option to leave a message, so if you want to ask me anything then please do so.

I am still working on another book with Agnes Lockwood back on Tyneside. But like I said to someone recently, don't wait up as I tend to take quite a while.

Well I think that is all for the moment, so I will love you and leave you. However, I will try to get back to you soon.

Have a great time wherever you are

Cheers!!

Murder on Tyneside

A New Badge!

What are your thoughts on my new badge?
Murder on Tyneside

Obviously, it won't appear on the cover of copies downloaded from Amazon.. However it is mine to use for promotions etc.

It was awarded to me by Readers' Favorite after they had read and reviewed my novel. And, no, before anyone asks, I did not pay for the review. There wasn't even a guarantee that anyone would read it. It is left to their reviewers to browse through the books and decide for themselves which book they would lead to read.

I think that makes it a little more special, don't you?

Anyway, the reviewer enjoyed reading Murder on Tyneside and gave it 5 stars and because of that I was given a badge.

We were very lucky here in our part of the Scottish Borders as we missed the snow on Thursday. Though I understand it was pretty bad in some areas Instead we had heavy rain and gusty winds. However, thankfully, everything was intact when we got up this morning.

I think it is going to be quiet weekend for us. Maybe I will take the opportunity and get on on with my latest novel. It is going to be another story about Agnes Lockwood and what she gets up to next.

Anyway, I think that is all for the moment,

Have a great weekend.

Cheers!

Murder on Tyneside

I will start this morning by saying a 'Big Thank You' to all who have downloaded a copy of my novel, Murder on Tyneside. I really do hope you all enjoy reading about Agnes Lockwood, who decides to take a rip down memory lane and starts helping the police with their inquiries - whether they want her help or not!
Murder on Tyneside

It is doing so well here in the UK. Therefore I simply wanted to mention it before it starts tailing off, which it will do. Things don't last forever. Well, wonderful things don't! Not in my experience, anyway!

I have started a sequel, but not sure where it is going at the moment. But then I never know where my stories are heading. I tend to make them up as I go along. Not always the best idea, but it works for me.

I have added a few more pictures of the Quayside where the novel is set. They were taken by me on my phone the last time I was down there, so they aren't perfect, but at least I am not breaching any copyright acts/laws, whatever it is they are called.

Sorry if they are a bit haphazard, but when I try to move them around they refuse.  Bit like Agnes, really, so I won't argue.

Cheers all And have a good day!!
